Today was a gym day, and I hit it hard this morning. My workout was as followed:
3 sets of Dumbbell chest press
3 sets of hip thrusts
3 sets of y-lifts/traps
3 sets of tri-cep pull downs
3 sets of wire-cable rows
3 sets of reverse butterflies
I also got in 4 hours of the SizeGenetics Extender. Usually, I take Friday off from P.E. but because I had two travel days this week where I couldn’t do P.E, I thought it be best to wear it today in order to make up some of the lost hours.
Today's Thoughts: Taking Action.
In this video, I discuss how Good Looking Loser influenced my way of thinking about taking action. But to give a summary, a person takes an action, they gain experience from that action, and then they can reflect on the experience in order to gain insight that will lead to better actions. This sounds really simple, but 90% of people don’t live their life like this.
How do most people live their lives?
1. Instead of acting upon the world, most people let the world act on them. Anytime someone sticks their head into the sand (ignoring their problems), they are letting the world act upon them.
2. Instead of gaining experience, they read about other people’s experiences. There is nothing wrong with reading or looking for a solution to a problem, but you have to act on the knowledge. If someone says do X, and you do nothing, you are letting the world act upon you. And if all you do is read, then all you are doing is mental masturbation.
3. Last, instead of reflecting and gaining insights, most people get angry at the fact the world isn’t what they want it to be. Remember, it is not about what the world ‘ought’ to be, but what the world ‘is’ that matters.
